The issue began on Saturday, February 7, 2026, and was fully resolved by Monday, February 9, 2026. Microsoft has since restored the affected infrastructure and processed all data backlogs.
Impact
Users in the West US region may have experienced the following issues:
- Power BI: Inability to execute data plane operations.
- Microsoft Defender (Cloud Apps, Identity, Office 365): Disruptions to Advanced Hunting, anomaly detection, file policy evaluation, and delayed/stale data in Threat Explorer.
- Microsoft Intune: Device enrollment failures.
- Microsoft Purview: Communication Compliance policy hits were not visible.
- Microsoft Defender XDR: Admins were unable to complete onboarding activities.
Status
Service Restored. The impact has been remediated for all users. Microsoft is currently reviewing options to increase power surge protection in the affected infrastructure to prevent future occurrences.

We’ve confirmed that a recent power surge at a portion of our Azure infrastructure in the West US region caused services to go temporarily offline. Our backup power systems were activated and we’ve confirmed that power remains stable to handle service activity. We’re working to restore connectivity to the impacted services to fully resolve this issue.
